A coalition of labor, faith, and civic organizations led by Progressive Maryland organized a vigil to close out a national day of action for the Fight for $15.
Nearly 100 people gathered at the Montgomery County Council Building to stand with oppressed people and call on elected officials to pass a strong $15/hour bill for Montgomery County.
Speakers included impacted workers, activists, and elected officials.
This is about more than wages. When we live in an economy in which access to our most basic needs is dependent on the cash in our wallet, this is about survival. – Justin Vest, Progressive Maryland
Bill sponsor, Marc Elrich, and other co-sponsors addressed the crowd.
We will continue to fight until every worker in Montgomery County earns a fair and living wage.
